SWEET SIXTEEN BABY

Too bad the two cinderfellas have to face off in the Sweet Sixteen. Would rather see more of the big conference teams fall.

GMU vs. WSU should be a good game. They beat us last time at home by 3 points, we almost pulled it out. Who woulda thunk we’d have to play again?

For WSU to go from bottom of the barrel to Sweet Sixteen….words can’t even describe it. My whole life we remembered the old days, Stalworth, Smithson. MTXE, Xavier McDaniel. Antoine Carr. But the program was a shambles. They even talked of getting rid of basketball at WSU altogether when I went there (early 90’s).

I can’t get mad or sad even if GMU beats us this game. They’re a clean team that works hard and so are we. Neither team has any diva players who piss everyone off. Just a solid, hard working bunch of kids who went to school on a scholarship to LEARN. No young high school kid in KS thinks of going to WSU to play basketball when KU and OU are just 2 hours away. That might change in a couple of years. I think the program has turned a corner at WSU.

Besides, it’s the battle of the doofy mascots. Pissed-off-wheat-in-a-turtleneck vs. hungover Grover. You gotta love that.

Broadcast TV needs to die

i’m sitting here trying to watch WSU play Tenn. in the 2nd round of the mens basketball tournament. Of course, since I live in Seattle, they cut over to the Wash. v. Ill game when it starts. No problem, I signed up for the NCAA March Madness on demand broadcast for free over the internet. I go to the site, log in, and select the WSU game. It tells me that the game is available on broadcast TV in my area so they can’t let me watch it online. But it’s not REALLY available. All I can do is watch the score in the upper left hand corner of my screen while they show the U.W. v. Ill game. They know what they are actually showing in my area and they should know that I can’t watch the WSU game over the air and should let me stream the video. Bastards!

Next time I’ll sign up using a Florida zip code or something.

Shockers a number 7 seed

BOOYAH! My college has finally re-tuned their mens basketball program. Back in the 60’s and 70’s Wichita State University had a place on the big stage in college basketball. Now, with the help of Mark Turgon, they have rebuilt their program. I’d almost venture to say that this is one of the greatest rebuildings since the K-State football program. I think the MVC got a total of 4 bids. They who? That’s right the Missouri Valley Conference.

I think they should declare April 1st a Wichita Holiday. We have two out of three of our major state colleges playing in the NCAA tournament.

Snow again in Seattle

I think we got that “weather event” that they mentioned on the news Sunday night. It was snowing big wet flakes that went *splat* when they hit something. At first I thought it was hail. It was still snowing this morning, but they were big fluffy flakes that floated down gently…and then melted once they hit the ground.

babies growth spurts

How to tell if your baby is having a growth spurt.

I don’t actually know how to tell if ANY baby is having one, but I think mine is right now. She’s almost 5 months old now and eating a LOT today.

She normally eats about 6-8oz of formula per feeding, with about 4-5 feedings per day. Two of the feedings per day contain solid food and some water. Kim makes her baby food now. She buys organic sweet potatoes and bananas, purees them, and then freezes them in an ice cube tray for later. Amelia normally eats maybe 1 cube of food twice a day.

Today she had 3 solid food eatings of two cubes apiece for a total of 6 cubes and about 38 oz of formula. She actually work up 45 min after she went to sleep for the night and ate another 5 ozs.

Free music from iTunes for buying early

Dear Scott,

We noticed that you recently purchased a Best of Saturday Night Live video
compilation. To thank you for being one of the first customers to order
this compilation, please enjoy this free song code, good for any two $0.99
songs on the iTunes Music Store.

Interesting. This must be a new thing Apple is trying. I bought “The Best of John Belushi” from ITMS and just got this coupon in my email today.
